Austin to formally sue state on Friday over 'sanctuary cities' ban SB 4
The city of Austin has announced that is will file suit against the state of Texas Friday over the ‘sanctuary cities’ ban Senate Bill 4.
The city of San Antonio is also suing the state over the controversial bill that requires local law enforcement to comply with federal detention requests placed on inmates suspected of illegal immigration, according to a press release.
The law also empowers police to inquire about a persons immigration status during routine police encounters, like traffic stops.
