Former Texas Comptroller Susan Combs nominated by Trump for assistant Interior secretary
Former Texas state comptroller Susan Combs has been nominated as Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Policy, Management and Budget by President Donald Trump.
Combs spent 16 years in Texas elected office before launching a womens empowerment nonprofit in 2015. She served as the first female Texas agriculture commissioner from 1999 to 2007, and state comptroller from 2007 to 2015.
She represented District 47 in the Texas House of Representatives from 1993 to 1996, and has managed her familys cattle ranch in Big Bend, Texas, for over 30 years.
Combs supported Carly Fiorina in Republican presidential primaries, criticizing Trump for being disrespectful to women at the Texas Tribune Festival in September. But she attended a Trump fundraiser in Austin in August.
