Peope not from around here can't understand the scope of this disaster.
Maybe this will help... driving from Corpus Christi to Houston takes about 4 hours..it's another 2 hours to the Louisiana border. The drive is pretty much "as the crow flies" and on freeways. To get from Corpus to Victoria is a bit over a 2 hour drive. The affected area is massive.

I live in Interior Alaska. "Big" doesn't cover Texas or here - it's almost difficult for anyone but those who live in these states to understand. I can't drive to our capitol. Or to Nome, Unalakleet, Barrow, etc. Spousal Unit and I have been through Texas, loved it - Austin, DFW, Houston, etc. Great food, terrific folks (they got "twitterpated" over our motorcycle with Alaska tags and camping gear).

I understand it. Doing all I can from way up here to assist way down there. And NO ONE is going to give up on y'all (yeah, I talk like that, born in the South).

And I'm not the only one. We kind-of held a cookout Sunday, and the few neighbors we have came; Republican, Libertarian, unaffiliated, AIP (Alaska Independence Party, think Joe Vogler) and no one, not ONE, didn't pledge to donate, help coordinate volunteers heading that way, etc.

We know disasters. Keep on keeping on, dear friend - you have an entire nation (less one Drumf and one Melanoma) behind you. Oh, and as to the pic below? So do Alaskans!
