Postal worker shot, killed on Texas highway

A United States Postal Service worker was shot and killed on a Texas highway early Monday morning, and police are still searching for the shooter.

Dallas police responded to the reported shooting around 2:30 a.m. along Interstate 30 near downtown, according to WFAA-TV. When they arrived, they found a large USPS truck had crashed into a guardrail in the eastbound lanes of I-30.

When they got a closer look inside the cab, they found the driver shot to death. Other postal workers arrived on scene and told CBS DFW the driver was beyond help by the time they arrived.

USPS investigators are offering a substantial reward of up to $100,000 for information in the case, according to CBS DFW.

The shooter could face federal charges.
