Abilene Christian University bans student employees from same-sex relationships
Abilene Christian University has banned student employees from being in same-sex relationships. The university already banned its faculty and staff from being in same-sex relationships.
Despite and in apparent contradiction to those new rules, school policy still states, We affirm the dignity and worth of all human beings, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
In a news article on its website, ACU wrote that it provides this guidance for its administrators:
We affirm the dignity and worth of every person as created in Gods image. ACU affirms the full humanity and dignity of all human beings, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. We recognize there are individuals who identify as LGBT or who experience same-sex attraction within our community. We strive to love and welcome all individuals.
Although it recognizes every person is created in Gods image and it recognizes people have same-sex attraction and the school welcomes these people, that no longer means the school has to put up with gays and lesbians actually having relationships and leading happy and productive lives.
