Sadler Reminds Texas Who He Was
In 2002, Representative Paul Sadler of Henderson, one of the most powerful Democrats in the Texas Legislature, announced he was not running for re-election. He was the chairman of the House Public Education Committee and a force that even the state’s governor had learned to be mindful of when it came to anything involving schools.
Ten years later, Mr. Sadler, 57, is the unequivocal underdog in his bid for the United States Senate against Ted Cruz, a rising national star in the Republican Party. As Mr. Sadler crisscrosses the state, he is learning firsthand that before he can persuade voters to view him as a serious contender, he must first remind them of the power player he once was.
“We have the qualified candidate. They do not,” Mr. Sadler recently told a crowd of Democrats in Seguin. “I am the one that served in the Legislature. I am the one that chaired committees. I am the one that built a school system. I am the one that helped you build schools and educate your children.”
While the United States Constitution does not require senators to have experience in elected office, Mr. Sadler has made it clear that Texans should demand nothing less from whomever they elect to replace Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, a Republican, who is retiring.

That actually covered the election thouroughly, had detailed interviews with the candidates, moderated debates with hard questions, made true endorsements based on candidates qualifications... Well Paul Sadler would win the media war hands down.
But because the media is basically just an extention of corporate interests that want republicans to win, they sit on the sidelines and even endorse the most unqualified candidates - just because they want to be friends with the republicans.
