Wendy Davis officially running for Congress

AUSTIN, Texas — Wendy Davis officially submitted the required paperwork to run for Congress representing Texas' 21st Congressional District on Wednesday.

“I’m running for Congress to be a voice for families who have struggled in silence with unaffordable health care and prescription drug prices, skyrocketing college tuition, schools that aren’t adequately funded and less safe than they should be, and without the clean air and water that our kids deserve,” Davis said.

The district spans from Austin to San Antonio, also covering Blanco and Gillespie counties.

Davis is challenging U.S. Rep. Chip Roy, a Republican who lives in Hays County and currently represents the district.

I consider a donation in this race to be a better investment than some of the other Texas races because:

1) it flips a red seat to blue, and
2) Wendy has a very realistic chance of winning the race.

I don't see what Texas gains by replacing Rep. Henry Cuellar with Cisneros in the Democratic primary and I don't view Sen. Cornyn as being as vulnerable as some members on DU believe.

Since I only have limited funds for donations, I have to get the best bang for my buck and I see the House races for Wendy Davis, Sri Kulkarni, and Gina Ortiz Jones as the best opportunities to gain ground on the Republicans.
