Man arrested after hoax bomb, NE Austin Walmart and Cap Metro bus evacuated

A man was arrested late Wednesday after being accused by authorities of making a hoax bomb in the parking lot of a Northeast Austin Walmart.

Officers responded to a suspicious device in the 1000 block of Norwood Park Boulevard at around 10:40 p.m., Austin police said.

Police said they found two PVC pipes underneath a Capital Metro bus seat that was parked at the Walmart, according to KXAN.

Police said a security guard for Walmart first saw the man inside the store bathroom holding PVC pipe, media reports said.
