Lt. Gov. hopeful makes Beaumont stop

Amid conversations about Texas’ energy grid, the response to the COVID-19 pandemic and increased voting regulations, one expected candidate for statewide office asks voters not to forget about education.

That was just one message from 2018 lieutenant governor candidate Mike Collier’s statewide listening tour that stopped in Beaumont on Tuesday.

Collier, a Democrat, lost by 5 percentage points to Republican Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick in 2018.

The Houston-area former oil company chief financial officer and auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers last week launched an exploratory committee regarding another run, but it’s largely to confirm his intent to do so.
