Congressman Lance Gooden Tweeted Racist Appreciation Of Christopher Columbus
Last week President Biden signed a proclamation for Indigenous People's Day and acknowledged the violence done to Native Americans due to American colonization. However, this morning Lance Gooden tweeted appreciation of the genocidal monster, Christopher Columbus.

1. Not every calendar has changed the date nor has
Congress revoked the day. I was expecting some seriously ridiculous tweet. It was as generic as can be. It going to take time for congress to change the day officially.

3. I think it's ridiculous, especially considering the conversations around Columbus...
...over the last several years.
Even if it's not official, still acknowledging Columbus is pretty egregious, IMO. |

2. There's no denying that back in the days of Columbus/Colon the political
and religious leadership of Spain and much of Europe and the rest of the world
displayed a high level of brutality that was then considered "normal". Many of us today have chosen a different life path even though the brutality still exists in many persons even now. We need to keep working on making sure the Brutal Fascists never win. |
