Crooked GOP in Texas redrew the maps and failed us ALL, again.


Texas State Sen. Beverly Powell (D-Fort Worth, District 10) is suspending her reelection campaign saying the race is unwinnable for a Democrat under redrawn district maps approved by the Republican-led state legislature last fall.

Powell, who ran unopposed in the March 2022 Democratic Primary, said in a statement Wednesday she would be pulling her name off the November ballot. Republican Phil King, who defeated challenger Warren Norred in the primary, will be the only Republican or Democrat on the ballot for State Senate District 10 in November.

3. She is facing what many of us Texas Dems have been for decades - our vote does not count

in State elections because our counties have been so gerrymandered that we don't have a chance. I don't see it changing because there is nothing a Texas Republican hates more that a Democrat except maybe someone who is educated.

4. No Republican should ever be allowed to run unopposed.

That being said, congressional races aren’t cheap, so I can understand being unwilling to work half to death and get into debt for a quixotic cause… 🙁
