Second Baptist pastor Ed Young calls for Democrats to be voted out during sermon

A leading Houston pastor is facing criticism this week for a call to action that many regard as political campaigning from the pulpit.

During Dr. Ed Young's sermon to Second Baptist Church in Houston Sunday, the prominent preacher called on congregants to vote out elected officials who he considers at fault for the city's crime. The pastor argued that "delayed justice," including bail bonds, is to blame for the rising rates and is what occurs when "you put left-wing progressives in office."

"If Houston and Harris County is to survive, we had better throw those bums out of office." said Young, who's served as lead pastor at Second Baptist Church since 1978. "They are not doing their job that we have called them to."

Under Young's leadership, the church has built two locations in Houston and established campuses in Pearland, Kingwood, Cypress and Fulshear, together boasting a congregation of 80,000 as of 2019. The beginning of Young's Sunday sermon was spent outlining crime statistics in Houston, including murders and robberies, that have occurred from January 2022 to August 2022.

... this bum needs to pay taxes! He is good at relating FOX News' talking point on crime - maybe his church tax money can help!

not paying taxes (and it is a gift as it is not a Constitutional right) needs to be revoked.

Conseristians are angling for their release from constraint. If they were sued and it went to the current USSC (sold as the "American Inquisition" in some regional outlets) they'd end up with full permission to politicize every pulpit and offering plate in America, totally tax-free. The conflation of church and state. That'll be so great, huh? I can hardly wait, you? Oh, but the new rule may not apply to non-Christian, non-protestant and non-fundamentalist denominations. Sorry Catholic Methodist Wiccans, you lose your tax-free status. (not sure if Wiccans ever had tax-free status) On the positive side, maybe Utah will finally go Democratic. Yea blue Salt Lake City!

The pastor is already high profile. And who among his faithful flock would let it be known what was preached that day, unless it was purposefully leaked to the press?
