Dallas abandoned pylons?
Okay, I haven't been to Dallas in a while, but I do recall seeing some old abandoned pylons along, I believe, I-35 that were, according to someone I knew in the area at the time, for an old monorail of some sort, but was discontinued because of ground sinking problems.
This is going back about 13 years.
Anyone have any idea regarding this very vague description?

Still, there are some interesting things that have been abandoned in Texas. Such as the WWII blimp hangars that were south of Houston

Let's face it, what's back there? Trees, bushes, water, mosquitoes, chiggers, snakes, a green hell!

Here are some photos of azaleas, alyssium and irises from around the house. We also have pink hawthorne and several different colored Althea (rose of Sharon) trees here. There are oak trees in the front yard and pecans in the back yard.

I began working in September 2000 at Williams Square (where The Mustangs sculptures are) north of the intersection of North O'Connor and Las Colinas Boulevard so I can answer your question. The area that you mention is near my old stomping grounds that I moved from at the beginning of 2012.
The monorail you mentioned is actually a tram system that extended from Lincoln Place partially around Lake Carolyn around to the Cigna Tower as shown in the map and runs parallel and between John Carpenter Freeway--Texas 114 and Las Colinas Blvd. FYI, I don't know if any of those buildings were renamed along the solid blue segment in the map below. It passes by the Omni Motel in Las Colinas and most of the other shops along the Las Colinas Blvd. strip.
Another short segment (in orange) runs to the Xerox Center (a group of glass-plated, hexagonal building later renamed the Millennium Towers). A few more pylons were built to the northwest of the Millennium Towers, but were never completed since growth in the Las Colinas halted during the 90s.

The Las Colinas area started to infill within the past 7-8 years. The Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) rail line added the "Orange Line" running from downtown and a train station opened up in July of last year next to the Cigna Tower. Another station was also opened up near the intersection of John Carpenter Freeway and Northwest Highway where the Irving Convention Center was opened in January 2012.

The Orange Line DART rail continues through Irving and opened two stations in December 2012 at North Lake College and further west off of Belt Line Road. I believe that by the end of this year the Orange Line will be completed and have a station at the north end of DFW International Airport.
The tram system remains open as a "people mover" along the blue and orange segments of the map that I posted and is an "on-call" manually operated system. A DART circular bus route was created in July 2012 that encompasses the loop between John Carpenter Freeway and Northwest Highway when the Orange Line opened up to the convention center. The area along the scheduled tram route north of Northwest Highway has become a residential area and has a separate DART bus route running through it connecting to the north side of Irving. Another project called Water Street is in the construction phase along the monorail route bordering Lake Carolyn and across from Williams Square that will add more shopping venues.
