There are people for whom nuclear-weapons testing is still extremely painful. Many of them are in Utah.

Is there a treaty that he won't violate?

Why nuclear testing. Our scientists know pretty well how to build a nuclear bomb/warhead and to determine the yield, deaths, and destruction. Do we need an active warhead to test ballistic and cruise missiles?

The army dug trenches. He estimates they were about 20 miles from the blasting site. His group was ordered into the trenchers. They were given glasses and told to get into the trenches.

He described the light from the blast as "It went right through me. I was lit up."
