Per AG Mark Herring, We have won the case to remove the Robert E. Lee statue from Monument Avenue



Police cars revolving lightBREAKINGPolice cars revolving light We have won the case to remove the Robert E. Lee statue from Monument Avenue. The Supreme Court of Virginia has dissolved all injunctions and the statue may now come down. A big win for a more inclusive Commonwealth!

I hope it does but WOW I thought this would be a long drawn out fight. I thought the SCV and UDC would pour money into this but I guess they chose not to. I moved here in 1994 and quickly was made aware of what Monument meant to a lot of people. When Henri o changed the name of Byrd Middle School I was surprised, all that’s followed is shocking ....in a good way.

the first time I was in Richmond (before I moved to VA) was with my parents to protest the war in Iraq. The march led us down Monument Ave. I was stunned by all the revere for traitors, I mean I know Richmond was the heart of the confederacy, but to see it in person was breathtaking and eye opening.

Times are a changing and I'm glad to see it.
