Joe Gibbs’ Organization Housing Undocumented Children in Virginia

Last edited Thu Jul 17, 2014, 10:56 AM - Edit history (2)

Important disclaimer: I got this information from a website run by the Heritage Foundation. They got it from Watchdog.org, another RW group. That sort of provenance rules this out for LBN, and ordinarily, I'd ignore this. This time, I'm not ignoring this, because the children are going to a camp run by Joe Gibbs. The Daily Signal points this out, but Watchdog.org does not.

Gibbs is well known for his evangelical bent. On the one hand, the children will have someplace to stay. On the other hand, while they are at Joe Gibbs' site, they are going to be exposed to Joe Gibbs' outlook.

There was a thread in LBN the other day about the Prince William County board of supervisors. Here it is:

Officials Hope to Locate Undocumented Immigrant Children Living in Prince William Co.

It looks as if they found at least some of them.

Joe Gibbs’ Organization Housing Undocumented Children in Virginia

Kathryn Watson / @Watchdogorg / July 16, 2014

It was only a matter of time before some of the thousands of undocumented children flooding the United States border reached Virginia. But the organization that is housing those children was founded by a man familiar to virtually everyone in the Washington, D.C., area.

Prince William County Board of Supervisors Chairman Corey Stewart, R-Woodbridge, confirmed via social media and his office that Youth For Tomorrow, a Vienna, Va.-based nonprofit founded by former Washington Redskins Coach Joe Gibbs, is contracting with the feds to house undocumented minors at its facility in Bristow, Va.

Watchdog.org called Youth For Tomorrow, which offered a number that connected to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. When Watchdog.org called the organization again, Youth For Tomorrow said it’s making “no comment” at this time. Vienna is in Fairfax County, but Bristow is in Prince William County, where Stewart serves.

Flood of undocumented children crossing border reaches Virginia county

....
Last week, {Prince William County Board of Supervisors Chairman Corey Stewart, R-Woodbridge,} and his colleagues voted to use the Freedom of Information Act to request information about the whereabouts of the roughly 7,000 illegal immigrants who have been arrested for a crime in the county since 2008, and been handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.

The Prince William County Board of Supervisors is using part of its regular meeting Tuesday to figure out what to do next.

Youth For Tomorrow Keys To Success

Relationships, Spirituality and Faith

Spirituality and Faith

The foundational component of Youth For Tomorrow is the spiritual. We are a non-denominational, faith-based, Christ-centered residential group home. Through our pastoral outreach and ministry we present the Word of God clearly and without compromise. We realize however, that most of our residents come to us in a place where they have rejected faith and are rebellious to the truths of Scriptures, often in defiance of their parents. The youth we serve come to us as self-absorbed, entitled teens with little care or concern for the impact their decisions have on others. The youth we serve come to us as self-absorbed, entitled teens with little care or concern for the impact that their decisions have on others.

Through our on-campus ministry, Godly principles are presented clearly and without concession, but done in a way that permits each resident to chart his or her our course.

That was began with an agreement during the Clinton administration. There are a lot of former engineers, lawyers, etc. working in those chicken processing plants out in the Shenandoah Valley and at one point there were 80 languages spoken in the Winchester school system.
