GOP congressional hopeful walks Culpeper streets.
Culpeper CPA Gerry Culver had some advice Thursday for Dave Brat, the Republican candidate in the November election for Virginias 7th District House of Representatives seat.
Dont lose touch with the people.
The formality with [Rep. Eric] Cantor got to be a problem, with the security guards and all, Culver told Brat. . .
Brat said that most small-business owners he has talked with on the campaign trail point to three government problems that are crippling themEPA regulations, legal and license costs, and Obamacare.
Marc Ast, owner of The Frenchmans Corner, provided a solution for all that.
Get the government out of my way, Ast told the RandolphMacon College professor. There is too much government!
Culpeper Town Councilman Jon Russell, who was part of the small contingent that accompanied Brat, was of the same accord.
I told Brat that we need to get the federal government out of our towns business and quit presenting us with unfunded mandates we cant afford and that dont make sense, said Russell. I want him to be our defender on this.
