An 83-year-old man was killed Saturday afternoon when his motorcycle struck the back of a pickup truck on Courthouse Road, according to the Spotsylvania County Sheriffs Office.
The pickup had stopped behind another vehicle making a left turn onto Brokenburg Road at about 1:05 p.m. Saturday, said Capt. Jeff Pearce.
The motorcyclist, who was headed eastbound on State Route 208, apparently did not see that the pickup was stopped, Pearce said. The man was thrown from his Harley Davidson and hit a guardrail.
He was transported to Mary Washington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
