Virginia Teen Takes Terminally Ill Grandmother To Her First Prom
by Christina Sturdivant in News on May 26, 2017 3:10 pm
A high school junior gave his terminally ill grandmother her first experience at a proma day before her 92nd birthday.
When student Stephen Vigil and his grandmother Julia Jarman entered the venue in Fredericksburg, Virginia on Saturday evening, "silence enveloped the lobby," according to The Fredericksburg Free-Lance Star, which first reported the date. ... Then, Stafford High School principal Joe Lewis gave Jarman a silver crown and sash that read "prom court."
17-year-old Vigil decided to take his grandmother to the prom after learning that she had pancreatic cancer earlier this year. It's one of many things he's done for her since then.
She doesnt have much time left, so I didnt even have to think about the decision to take her to prom. Im so glad well both have these memories," he told The Star.

It was truly wonderful. Martha, the grandma, died not long after the wedding.
