Suffolk man who wanted to be a martyr pleads guilty to trying to aid the Islamic State
NORFOLK -- Lionel Nelson Williams wanted to be a martyr for the Islamic State, according to court documents.
In conversations with a friend, the Suffolk man talked about going at the police with a gun. They discussed him carrying out a “local” operation of such scale the military would have to come in to help.
But, Williams said, he wanted to first marry his online girlfriend from Brazil.
“I have the most beautiful woamn who wants to amrry me (sic). Mind body and soul,” Williams wrote to an undercover FBI agent he believed was connected to the Islamic State group in Iraq. “I have waited a lifetime.”
