CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -

“We will be back again… and again, and again.”

White nationalist Richard Spencer has brought a trio of torch rallies to Charlottesville. Now, he says plan on seeing even more.

Spencer knows the law and how to use it to get what he wants. We saw that on Saturday, October 7, when he led a torch march to Emancipation Park, knowing the city’s top prosecutor couldn't do a thing about it.

In a rare interview he spoke one-on-one with NBC29's Henry Graff about race, monuments, and Charlottesville. Spencer says history chose Charlottesville. For him, going to the University of Virginia and living here after graduation were also factors.

Edit to add: I waffled as to post this or not. It might be better to ignore him and not spread his statements. I decided that people should know about his threats. We need to figure out what to do about this that is constitutional.

Some ideas of simple things:
No open flames allowed in the park (or public spaces) without a permit - fire safety
Parks close at sunset. Not so good for the public in the winter evenings.
Pressure the police to ticket them for jay-walking, blocking traffic (they crossed streets against the walk lights), etc. this could backfire and counter protesters be cited.
Ignore them. This is not going to happen. Just look at the one sided, non-critical coverage I linked to above.

1. Screw the idea

that's it's OK to just ignore white supremacy. THAT IS THE ULTIMATE EXAMPLE OF WHITE PRIVILEDGE!

You may have the luxury of ignoring racism but it's victims don't. If a Nazi is speaking in your locality show up and drown them out.

Too many people don't understand that republicans are engaged in open war against Americans who value freedom and individuality for all. If you don't know you're in a fight to the death you will die.

2. I meant ignore this interview. It gives him an unopposed voice.

We have not ignored these assholes when they come to town.

Their strategy is now to secretly sneak into town and rally for a few minutes and then immediately rush out of town.

3. I heartily applaud your decision

to talk about this interview. I sent a general e-mail to 29news stating the only purpose this interview serves is giving voice to white supremacy. Basically, calling out the station for seeming to support abhorrent views.

I know that fungi grow in the dark so shine a light on them and kill them.

Nothing new came out of that interview. Spencer's beliefs and strategies are all ready well reported. Perhaps it will foster more awareness of this in our community and awaken a few who are still asleep. One of these, to quote the enabler in chief, "very fine people" murdered a friend's granddaughter.

5. It appears to me that Spencer keeps returning to the city of his alma mater,

UVA, to re-live and correct something of his past.
