Democratic Party of Virginia Ditches "Jefferson-Jackson Dinner" for "Blue Commonwealth Gala"

From DPVA…glad to see that the name of the “JJ Dinner” has finally been changed, particularly ditching Andrew “Trail of Tears” Jackson. “Blue Commonwealth Gala” is a much more fitting name, as we work to make Virginia “blue” not just in terms of Democratic victories (which of course are crucial) but also in terms of progressive policies. As DPVA Chair Susan Swecker says, our goal is – and must always be – “a stronger, fairer, and more prosperous Commonwealth.” Let’s do it!

RICHMOND, VA – Democratic Party of Virginia Chairwoman Susan Swecker released the following statement announcing the DPVA’s signature annual fundraising event, the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner, will now be named the Blue Commonwealth Gala.

“The future of our Commonwealth is Democratic. The future of our Commonwealth will be painted in broad blue strokes,” said Democratic Party of Virginia Chairwoman Susan Swecker. “The Blue Commonwealth Gala will be a celebration of our party’s dedication to expanding opportunity for all Virginians. Building off our historic victories in the 2017 election, we are excited to rename our signature event as we work to make Virginia a stronger, fairer, and more prosperous Commonwealth.“
