Virginia turnout? What was it like when you voted?

and in the Sleepy Hollow area of Fairfax County -- polling places that ordinarily have no lines at all on midterm election years. And its pouring outside.

have never had to wait long. We have had steady rain most of the morning, so I think some of the people will vote later in the day.

I got there at 5:45 and was voter number 300 and something.

5 times the number of voters we usually have that early. I vote in every election and often wander in at 10 and find that I am the 45th or 50th person to vote that day. So, this is an ENORMOUS TURNOUT.

The exit poll worker said there had been 30 people in line when the polling place opened at 6, and that was unusual, especially since it's been raining. Rain is supposed to stop pretty soon, but it sure hasn't hampered turnout.

A friend in Woodbridge had to wait an hour to vote at 6:30 this morning.

More than I usually see voting for a midterm. The young woman at the door said it was slow at 9 and suggested that people were avoiding the showers that came through then.

Just before I got my ballot something was going on at the ballot scanner. I asked and he told me that two ballots were stuck together and the machine rejected them. Only one was filled out.

I took someone to vote - in and out in less than ten minutes - very light, five or six people there.

It was crowded (red county) but there have been fewer signs for Republicans. It's a long shot, but perhaps other counties in the district will push us over the finish line. Go Leslie!

There were already 25-30 people ahead of me in line.
This gladdens my heart as I feel that people do not stand in the dark, the rain, the cold if they're planning on voting for the status quo.

I'm not sure what the district is, I just moved here. Henrico. Polling place off Patterson near Gaskins.

Voted around 1 pm or so, no line but reasonably a steady stream of people coming in despite the rain. Spoke with the poll worker who was directing people to ask if it had been busy and she said she's worked that polling place for years and it was busier than usual this year.

People tended to vote early versus later. This prompted the ordering of extra ballots that ultimately were not needed.

Overall in-person voting was comparable to a presidential year. But absentee voting was up by about 50%.

Overall turnout (absentee and Tuesday) by "active" voters was about 75%.

((Since this is a military moving district, plus a number of aged retirees dying or moving away, this understates the percentage of "actual" active voters voting.))
