NORFOLK
A three-year-old red panda at the Virginia Zoo is now a mom of five.
Masu, who came from the Denver Zoo in 2017, gave birth to two boys and a girl on June 18 at the zoo's Animal Wellness Campus, the zoo said Monday in a news release.
Their father is a four-year-old red panda named Timur who has fathered all five of Masu's cubs, including the two she had last June — Adam and Freddie.
The newest members of their family — who are nameless at the moment — weighed about five ounces at birth. They now weigh just over a pound.
