Recount Confirms Democrats Will Control Virginia's State House 55-45 after 2019

Recount confirms Democrats will control Virginia's state House 55-45 after 2019, Daily Kos, Dec. 16, 2019.

VA State House: The recount for the 83rd State House District concluded on Friday, and Democrat Nancy Guy's lead over GOP Del. Chris Stolle increased from 27 to 41 votes. The Virginia House Democrats say that Stolle called Guy later that day to concede the race for this Hampton Roads seat, which backed Clinton 51-43.

Guy's win means that Democrats picked up six seats in the chamber on Nov. 5 and will hold a 55-45 majority in the lower chamber, along with their 21-19 advantage in the Senate. The final results mean that the only two House Republicans who will represent a Clinton seat in the next session of the legislature will be outgoing Speaker Kirk Cox and Robert Bloxom Jr., while Joshua Cole will be the one Democrat in a Trump district. Two Senate Republicans, Jennifer Kiggans and Siobhan Dunnavant, prevailed in Clinton seats last month, while no Democrats represent Trump turf.

The commercial said that Peters "endorsed Medicare for All" and "supports the Green New Deal," but the campaign issued a release saying it "incorrectly claim[ed] he backs Medicare for All and the Green New Deal - two policies the Senator does not support."

● SC-Sen: The Democratic pollster Change Research is out with a new survey for the Post & Courier that gives GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham a surprisingly slim 47-45 lead over former state Democratic Party chair Jaime Harrison. Change's late September poll, which was done for Harrison's allies at Collective PAC, found Graham ahead by a larger 50-43 margin...
