Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died Friday at age 87, visited Virginia Military Institute in 2017 for a public appearance at Cameron Hall that Roanoke Times reporter Laurence Hammack covered with photojournalist Stephanie Klein-Davis.

Ginsburg wrote the majority opinion in a groundbreaking 1996 decision that found that state-supported Virginia Military Instiute's male-only admissions policy was unconstitutional. The decision in United States v. Virginia found that the 14th Amendment's Equal Protection Clause included equality of the sexes.

Thank you Pres Bill Clinton for loaning America 'Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg'.

He saw to it that human & civil rights of minorities of color, gender, & creed would one day be counted as equal.

He sealed that promise with the appointment of our dear RBG.
