Seattle City Council hears out arm-waving Eyman, votes to oppose I-976

Embattled initiative promoter Tim Eyman waved his arms at the Seattle City Council, which heard him out Monday afternoon and voted unanimously to urge a No vote on Eyman's Initiative 976, the $30 car tab measure on Washington's November ballot.

Eyman wasn't expecting support, and has brought the President Donald Trump tactic of nasty nicknames to this Washington.

He railed against the "Seattle Clown Coun-cil" in an email blast earlier in the day. He used the moniker "Fascist Fergie" to refer to Attorney General Bob Ferguson, whose civil suit has detailed kickbacks to Eyman and money laundering in his initiative campaigns.

Eyman decried the Council resolution as an "arrogant, improper use of tax dollars" and said the issue is out of lawmakers' hands. "The state gets to vote: You guys can rant and rave all you want," he said, arms extended.

No Timmy, the state should not have the right to override a local vote because it didn't go the way you wanted it to.

Want $30 tabs? Then move your grifting ass back to Yakima though I have a feeling you left because it's too brown for you.

Is car 'tab' local parlance? I've never heard of it. Tax, fee, license, yes, but not 'tab.' CurtEastPoint Oct 2019 #2

Georgia. That's why I asked if it was a local term. Here it's 'ad valorem' tax. CurtEastPoint Oct 2019 #7

If you live in the Sound Transit District, which composes much of King, Pierce and Snohomish Counties, you pay a vehicle license tax based on your vehicle's value. This tax has been approved twice by voters in that district.

I believe Tim Eyman is currently living in Bellevue and has to pay the tax.

Conservatives claim to be for local government but this initiative along with Trump's attempt to void California's emissions standards shows that to be a load of BS.

Remember, those of you who take public transportation, you are the first to suffer. Next, those who drive your roads will not be taken care of. Those of you who have the privilege of driving remember your family and friends who can't and rely on public transportation to get them everywhere including work. When people can no longer get to work because their way there has been taken out of the route they will no longer have a job.

Years ago I voted for this and it passed. The $30 tab never really happened an those who relied on public transportation suffered. I to this day feel bad that I did not study it before I voted for it. I have not made that mistake again as I was a part of the bad consequences those people suffered.

Even if a law or rules may not work personally for you you need to think of the majority and how they will come out in the end.
