Record Rainfall Brings Flooding To Rivers, Streets In Washington
SEATTLE, WA An unrelenting downpour brought flooding to rivers, streets and urban areas Friday morning, as the Seattle area approaches some all-time daily precipitation records. 48-hour rainfall totals largely fell within the 2-to-4 inches range in King and Pierce counties, and Seattle picked up more than two inches just between midnight and 10 a.m. Friday.

Social media posts showed standing water and closed streets in several cities, including in Bellevue, Mercer Island, Kent and Renton. An urban flooding advisory was in place Friday morning for the Seattle, Tacoma and Olympia metro areas, with an increased potential for landslides.

The National Weather Service issued a Flood Warning for the Snoqualmie River near the falls Friday morning, with minor flooding expected in the afternoon and continuing into Saturday. Most lowland areas are expected to see at least another couple inches of rainfall by the end of Saturday.
