Related: About this forumI was wondering how people
are filling the void of AM 1090. Is there a place online that streams Norman Goldman?

(62,683 posts)Now I watch Stephanie on Current and have my radio on KOMO and hear the same local news over and over, or NPR/UW 94.9. No void has been filled, though. I'm bereft.
My drive home now sucks. My cassette player sounds crappy and the now there's nothing to take my mind off of traffic. I did peruse the AM lineup and discovered the Republican line up was well represented. Nice loud and clear channels. I think I might go ahead and subscribe to his site.
Now my next project is to find Norm and the others streaming over the net. I'll post if and when I have success.

(2,682 posts)which is subject to change now that Current has been sold. I found RTTV which has Thom Hartman at 4:00 PT with a repeat later in the evening. Their headline news isn't bad -- lots of international stuff.
In the car -- NPR puts me to sleep and a station near Tacoma that picked up some 1090 programming has such a low signal I don't get it here north of Seattle. But there's another station out of Bellevue (KBCS 91.3) has Democracy Now and Thom Hartman. There's also a station in Everett (KSER, 90.7) that has Democracy Now and BBC news.
Ed Shultz is, of course, on MSNBC along with other favorites of mine: Martin Bashir, Rev. Sharpton and Rachel Maddow. I can keep the TV on to listen to while I'm doing other things.
It's annoying to have to TV or radio, which station, which time, etc. 1090 had everything in one place. I sure miss it.

(2,535 posts)There are two different local stations playing Stephanie and Thom, but I forgot what they are. Thom is on an FM station and Stephie is on an AM station that plays at 9:00 AM, so most will miss the morning drive. You can listen to the Chicago station online as mentioned, but I also know how much I will miss listening on my car radio to the folks like Norm, Mike Malloy and Ring of Fire on the weekends.
Plus when Current goes away, I am sad that Stephie, Bill Press and the rest will leave there as well. I have written to Al Jazeer on one of their blogs where an American posted that was praising the new sale. I like Al Jazeer and all (I see them online as well as read the Asia Times, which is excellent), but I am sad that Current is going away. In truth they were why I was paying for cable, which I can ill afford. I may have to cancel my subscription, because really there is little else on for decent news, though I do love Rachael Maddow, but I have been listening to Lizz Winstead and her since the Air America days, lol.
IN the afore mentioned blog, I asked Al Jazeer to consider keeping at least some of the personalities Current has. Stephie says she is not sure what is going to happen to her, so perhaps Al Jazeer is considering keeping her. Write them and suggest it!
Hope this helps, Cat in Seattle (well, really I live in Kenmore now, but am a native Seattleite).
I remember the Air America days, ha! That was a while go. Thanks for the info! Al Jazeer huh, never thought about that. That's a huge help. Thanks!
I'm sad the only opposing talk station is gone. But for some reason the right comes in loud and clear, intentional? I think so you supposedly pick up norm in Siruis (they stream too) but it's another form of pay to listen.
If it wasn't for the schools I'd move out the east side right away, talk about red spot in our green state. Around here you must get dummer the richer you get cause I've seen some horrendous bumper stickers.
I'll catalogue what find and post the results, Thanks for the help.

Take Care and I hope to bump into you here in the future.
