1 Million Coronavirus Tests Have Been Performed In Washington

SEATTLE, WA — After data issues caused the state to delay reporting new coronavirus case counts Friday, Saturday the Washington State Department of Health reported 28 deaths and 1,738 new coronavirus cases for Friday and Saturday combined. In addition, the state confirms that now more than 1 million coronavirus tests have been performed in Washington since the pandemic began in spring.

The data issue that caused the delay may have some lingering effects, however.

"The outage caused interruptions in several functions, which means the data we report will be preliminary," officials wrote on Friday. "We also anticipate negative tests will be behind for a few days which will impact our ability to report our tests and percent positivity."

The DOH says they hope to be back to normal by early next week.
