Walk-up coronavirus testing site opening in Rainier Beach

A new free walk-up coronavirus testing site is opening Friday in Seattle's Rainier Beach, with plans to administer 800 tests per day.

The new site — located at Rainier Beach High School, 8815 Seward Park Ave S. — will be open Mondays and Wednesdays to Saturdays, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

“Seattle is leading the nation in pioneering innovative testing strategies and free citywide testing of our most vulnerable individuals and communities of color who have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19," Mayor Jenny Durkan said in a news release.

"The combination of testing and our actions is saving lives, but we also must face the reality that we will be dealing with this pandemic until at least next year. It is up to each of us make to protect ourselves, families, neighbors, coworkers and community, so we need to mask up, physical distance, wash your hands, and get tested when experiencing symptoms or exposed to people with COVID illness.”
