Washington Hits Voting Milestone, Statewide Turnout Above 83%
OLYMPIA, WA More than 4 million Washington voters cast ballots in the 2020 General Election, reaching a historic milestone for voter participation in the Evergreen State. As of Wednesday evening, elections officials had received 4,069,665 ballots, representing about 83.2 percent of Washington's roughly 4.9 million registered voters. By comparison, statewide turnout in the 2016 presidential election peaked at 79.4 percent.
Final participation totals may increase after the remaining ballots are tallied. The deadline for certification this year is Tuesday, Nov. 24.
The second batch of election results released Wednesday accounted for about 3.6 million ballots, according to data from the Secretary of State's office, with an estimated 415,226 left to be counted.
