Google plans big campus on site of Kirkland car dealership

Google will buy the Lee Johnson Chevrolet dealership in Kirkland for another campus in the Puget Sound area, its third in Kirkland.

Rumors of the deal have been swirling for months, and The Business Times reported on Saturday that Alphabet Inc.'s Google is building a new campus near Seattle.

Google bought a 10-acre plot close to its existing campus in Kirkland, and plans to use it to expand in the area, states the report, which cites a memo sent to employees and seen by Bloomberg.

Lee Johnson President Tod Johnson on Thursday told the Business Journal the dealership has entered into an agreement to sell the property but declined to name the buyer. Two sources with direct knowledge of the deal said Google is the buyer, and Google confirmed it Thursday night.
