Seattle opens $4M round of Covid relief grants for small businesses
The city of Seattle is opening another round of business grants, totaling $4 million, to aid operators impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Starting Oct. 19, small business owners can apply for grants of $5,000, $10,000 or $20,000 from the Small Business Stabilization Fund. That money can go to pay rent, wages or equipment costs.
"Over the last 20 months, the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting economic crisis has had an undeniable impact on our small business community in every neighborhood across Seattle," Mayor Jenny Durkan said in a news release. "From the initial days of the pandemic, the city of Seattle, and the Office of Economic Development has worked hard to support our citys vibrant small businesses and provide financial assistance to those who need it the most."
To date, the city has distributed more than $10 million in aid to about 1,500 small businesses. The latest batch of grants is funded with dollars from the American Rescue Plan.
