Seattle University extends remote instruction as omicron variant continues to spread
Seattle University announced its decision Tuesday to extend the timeframe for remote learning through Jan. 30, due to the continuing and rapid spread of the omicron variant of COVID-19.
Over the holiday break, the university announced its plan to begin the new year in a mostly virtual learning environment. The school originally planned to be remote for the first week of the quarter and return to in-person instruction on Monday, Jan. 10.
Most courses will take place online, with some exceptions for labs, clinical placements and practicums. Residence halls, dining services and other campus operations will remain open during the remote instruction period.
The university requires all students to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and plans to hold additional vaccination clinics on campus in January.
