National Guard sending 20 to Leavenworth to help after snow storms

LEAVENWORTH, Wash. - Twenty National Guardsmen are on their way to Leavenworth, where three feet of snow fell in less than 24 hours.

Leavenworth mayor Carl Florea declared a disaster declaration for the city over the weekend, Florea said some parts of the city even got up to 48 inches of snow in 48 hours.


The National Guard confirmed its crews are on the way to help with welfare checks and meal delivery. The Guardsmen on the way are from the Wenatchee area.
