Redmond ranks among top 10 US cities for finding a new apartment

Redmond was ranked the ninth-best city in the country for finding a new apartment in 2023, according to a new report. Its lofty ranking was due in part to an 85.1% increase in new apartments built there between 2012 and 2021.

The data comes from RentCafe, which said about 6,000 new rental units have hit the market in the Eastside city during that timeframe, with most in "top" locations near shopping, transit and employers.

The rankings also took into account criteria such as average size of new units and most recent occupancy rate. In Redmond, new units average 740 square feet and occupancy is at 92.5%.

Six of the cities to make the top 10 list are in Texas. Boca Raton, Florida, topped the list, followed by the Texas cities of Midland and Humble. Redmond was the only city in Washington to rank among the top 50.
