Yellow skies, BC fires

I woke to eerie colors, so yellow and smelling of smoke. The skies are grey but nothing on the radar. The sun is yellow, everything is yellow.

So off to the internets to find BC has a lot of fires and the winds are from the n/ne. There are many fires in BC. Part of Port Hardy on the wet north end of Vancouver Island has been evacuated, there is a fire right north of Vancouver near Sechelt, etc etc etc.

The temperature is much cooler this morning but due to a pressure trough near the coast, hot dry winds from inland BC will kick that back up this afternoon, increasing our fire danger again and bringing us smoke in the air.

Yuck.

Not yellow and not smelling of smoke, but odd nonetheless.

the Pacific NorthWet, when the rainforests are do dry they are burning. Port Hardy on N Vancouver island has average annual rainfall of 74 inches. The Queets on WA's west coast gets 140 inches.

A big problem for today is that with the smoke in the air already, it is difficult to smell new smoke. And it is really oddly colored out. It looks like evening colors. Probably good for taking photos though.

3. WOW that appsgov map is frightening!

The Weather Channel had an interesting segment this morning on this very situation in BC.
They were talking about the smoke & particles in the atmosphere turning the skies & sunsets to intense colors.

But honestly your linked map of the fire locations is pretty frightening.
Yikes BC!
