Wash. initiative on November ballot would allow concealed carry on school grounds

Organizers are gathering signatures to put Initiative 1621 on the November ballot.

If voters pass it into law, "Gun Free Zone" signs will disappear from schools in Washington state.

The initiative would amend current Washington state law and allow licensed concealed carry permit holders to carry a pistol on school grounds.

It would apply to any "non-student" licensed to conceal carry a pistol.

Yes. That does mean teachers could carry a pistol, but they would have to follow a few requirements.

The initiative says school employees would be required to be trained in firearm safety and inform school administrators, like a principal, they plan to carry a firearm at school. Notifying a principal of plans to do so is only for awareness, not for permission according to the initiative. Of course, those employees would also have to be licensed to conceal carry.

Initiative 1621 sponsor Tyler Miller said the intention of the initiative is to provide greater flexibility to local school administrations in addressing security needs.

I don't think this has a snowball's chance in hell of passing assuming it gets on the ballot. Also Tyler Miller must be insecure about the size of his penis.

for these crazy zealots is always "more guns everywhere". Yet in countries where gun ownership is highly regulated, there isn't nearly the homicide rate we have here. You'd think they could put 2 and 2 together one of these days.

I was not aware of this and haven’t really been out and about enough lately to get harassed by petition people but I’ll tell them to go fuck themselves.

Almost got myself arrested when that ignorant “bathroom bill” was going around a couple years ago trying to get signatures. I don’t think it should be legal to go around accusing people of being child molesters based on their sexuality or sexual identity.

This shouldn’t be legal either. An initiative should not be allowed to have such a far reaching impact on the state. This is to big not to be decided in the legislature (where it would fail).
