McMorris Rodgers, Rossi top $2M raised in House races
Republican U.S. Rep,. Cathy McMorris Rodgers and GOP House hopeful Dino Rossi have both raised more than $2 million in their bids to help hang onto Republican control of Congress in the 2018 elections.
With a big chunk of the money coming from political action committees, McMorris Rodgers raised almost $1.2 million during the first quarter of 2018.
The money included $677,000 raised, just under $100,000 transferred from a PAC account , and more $400,000 collected by her own PAC, the American Dream Project. However, only a portion of the American Dream dollars can be spent on her own campaign.
McMorris Rodgers is a member of the House Republican leadership. She was standing beside outgoing House Speaker Paul Ryan on Tuesday morning as Ryan predicted that President Trump will not fire Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller.
She is being challenged by Democrat Lisa Brown, former chancellor of Washington State University-Spokane. Brown has taken in $1.3 million, roughly half the $2.7 million collected by McMorris Rodgers.
