Puget Sound's air quality could dip back to unhealthy during the week
Over the weekend, the weather took a turn for the classic PNW: Gray skies, dabbles of rain, cooler temperatures. But come Monday, the forecast might look a lot more like the rest of August.
With any luck it won't be for all that long: Clear skies will roll through on Monday and Tuesday, but forecasts have cool and cloudy weather returning to Western Washington on Wednesday.
Those sunny days may bring some haze back with them, but it shouldn't be anything like the smoke-filled skies August has seen so far, officials say.
And though there has been improvements in air quality across the board, some parts of Western Washington including King, Kitsap, and Snohomish counties have an air quality alert in effect until 5 a.m. on Monday.
The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency reports that those are are still seeing unhealthy air for people with sensitive health considerations, like heart and lung problems, or young children.
In air quality like that, officials urge those with sensitivities to stay indoors, with the windows closed and air conditioning on (where possible).
