The midterms are next month and, amid the sound and the fury of how gigantic stories will affect them, there is a small battle brewing in Washington.
President Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama are waging a silent proxy war among the Washington congressional candidates.
Neither has set out in the press to battle the other, but their choices of endorsements and donatees seem to be at odds with one another.
Trump, in what is most likely an effort to prevent any lost seats in the house, has put his word and money into incumbents. Obama, to help the Democrats flip the house, has publicly endorsed challengers to the three of four currently-Republican districts.
