Your last chance to walk the tunnel, viaduct is about to sell out
If you want one last chance to walk the viaduct -- as well as one chance to walk around the new tunnel -- you're in luck, but you have to act fast.
Tickets are limited and almost gone for the grand opening celebration of the State Route 99 tunnel. The weekend of February 2-3 will be marked by a weekend-long celebration, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a festival, bike ride and a fun run through the tunnel and along the viaduct.
The Washington State Department of Transportation says they hope the events help celebrate the past and future of SR 99 and the waterfront community. Along the viaduct route, there will be 100 local artists, STEM activities with opportunities to learn about the Excavation Station and an interactive Lego model, and food trucks.
And while Sunday morning's bicycle ride is already sold out, you can still nab spots at Saturday's walk through the tunnel and on top of the Alaskan Way Viaduct.
