Milwaukee communities struggle against foreclosure crises

http://www.jsonline.com/news/milwaukee/milwaukee-communities-struggle-against-foreclosure-crises-b99421373z1-287737151.html

Before the burst of the housing bubble, the City of Milwaukee typically owned fewer than 100 foreclosed residential properties at any given time, according to a report from Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service.

But today the city owns about 1,100 foreclosed homes, banks own an additional 1,500 foreclosed properties, and there are about 2,800 vacant homes throughout the city, many of which could become foreclosures soon if the owners don't pay their mortgage or taxes, the news service reported.

The NNS report takes a look at how five Milwaukee central city communities — Clarke Square and Layton Boulevard West on the south side and Harambee, Lindsay Heights and Washington Park on the north side — are working to overcome obstacles to stabilize their neighborhoods after the foreclosure crisis.

This is a horrible testament to our RW leadership! An assault on the inner city according to ALEC & their puppets!

will help homeowners work and prevent the foreclosure process.

A year or two ago, the Federal Govt. gave money to the state to help homeowners in underwater mortgages, but the A.J. used a good chunk of it to hire more prosecutors.
