DNR may sell naming rights to state parks, among other things

It's not a budget, it's a blueprint for the destruction of our state. Another day, another list showing how Walker's "budget" will dismantle the things that made this state a good place to live and work. Might as well just give corporate naming rights to the state itself because it's not going to be "Wisconsin" anymore after this "budget" is passed...

Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources might sell naming rights to state parks to help them operate without tax support as proposed under Gov. Scott Walker's biennial budget, DNR Secretary Cathy Stepp told lawmakers Tuesday.

Stepp said partnerships and sponsorship agreements with the private sector would be discussed over the next two years....

The governor's budget also cuts:

•$1 million annually, or 100 percent, of Walleye Initiative funding, for large walleye fingerlings to maintain the population of the fish in state waters.

•$4 million annually, or 21 percent, of recycling grants to local governments. The budget also eliminates funding for recycling and solid waste education and research.

•$1.2 million annually, or 100 percent, of grants to nonprofit conservation, recreation and timber industry groups.

•$350,700 annually, or 50 percent, of funding for removal of deer killed on roads.

The budget would reduce technical assistance for preventing pollution from farms while continuing borrowing for dairy operations to build structures such as storage lagoons. The spending plan would:

•Cut $1.8 million annually, or 71 percent of $2.5 million, for preventing manure and other material from running off the land and polluting state waters. The cut would not leave enough money to provide $500,000 for UW-Extension efforts required under a state law....

4. I guess the 1 million for large walleye fingerlings is chump change all things considered

but from my reckoning, the "Sportsmen for Walker" types prefer the larger fingerlings due to survival rates. They are much more expensive to raise however. A lot of lake associations across the state raise money for fingerling releases in their waters on their own and with the help of the DNR. These folks, many of whom own waterfront homes or second homes, most likely would like some return on their property taxes. They (the fisherfolks and DNR) are ( or were) trending for releasing the larger fry.

As for the manure runoff, ask the folks in Kewaunee county about that. There is already not enough money budgeted.

I am understanding more and more what is going on, Wanker is using the state of Wisconsin, its people, and its natural resources in order to become president. This "big, bold leadership" bullcrap is just a power hungry ploy.

I don't thinks its fair to rag on the fine folks of Wisconsin for electing this guy ( am seeing this type of comment more and more in press and web story comment sections) but I reckon some of the people who voted for him 3 times are kicking themselves sideways, now.

"Wanker is using the state of Wisconsin, its people, and its natural resources in order to become president."

Scott Walker doesn't care at all about Wisconsin. This is obvious. He knows only ambition, and will use Wisconsin as he sees fit- consume it really- until he gets what he wants (the Presidency). He's driven by one thing: he wants to be just like his hero Ronnie Reagan. Destroy the state along the way? Who cares...once he's president he wont need Wisconsin any more.

Similarly, Walker's corporate backers know only that they have their vehicle...a candidate so beholden to them that he will do literally anything they tell him to do. Wisconsin goes in the crapper? Who cares? They wouldn't be caught dead slumming around here.

Scott Walker and his backers are literally a parasitic infection, and I'm not sure what medicine it will take to remove them. I hope and pray that it is still possible.

I truly believe there is something very wrong with Scott Walker. It is very difficult to accept that people in positions of trust and great responsibility can be as dangerous as Walker is, but more and more people are seeing it. The lies, the illogical and inappropriate statements, his treatment of the people and land he has been entrusted with are leading many to question just exactly what is going on here. Heck, just look into his eyes and it's obvious something's not right!

Yes, they are radicals. And what they are doing makes no sense. Is this all for campaign contributions? To help Walker fulfill his dreams? The people in control of this state have lost their way... or maybe they've simply been unleashed.

12. Walker is a PAWN for the fascist oligarchs who now OWN Wisconsin.

The property/territory, its "laws" and those who enforce the "laws" belong to & work for the top 1% who write the legislation, laws and governing rules (ALEC). Its pay for play in a big way.
Walker has changed his tune/dialogue/word salad per ALEC's script. It matters not what he said to become elected. Those were not his words anyway. He is their TOOL and they will dispose of him when they wish as well. If indictments are presented Wanker will suffer for them.
The oligarchy is a dark government--moving their pawns & puppets in a political chess match.
Real constituents or residents are unimportant and their concerns are a thing of the past.

Wisconsin is actually in a state of chaos. Nothing is done according to legislative process or rules.

and Wisconsin will be the worst state in the mid west, possibly the nation. Ugh..... he and his policies have just destroyed the once proud progressive standard to the lowest trash status. I just despise him.
