An update on my "Sportsman for Walker" friends......

In the DNR post by lutefisk a week ago today, I had posted some incidental/anecdotal responses to S. Walker's proposed DNR changes. So just an update from Wisconsin Outdoor News an outdoor publication and Lake Link an outdoor web forum based in Wisc

WON must have received a ton of "cancel my subscription" ire. But interestingly, there were zero LTTE's published. Their website does not offer a "comments section" to their blogs for some reason ( I am guessing it has mainly to do with rancor and vehemence). The Chief editor does have an editorial which reading between the lines is an exhausted response to feedback he has been getting. He lives North of Hwy 8 where it is common to see bumper stickers along the lines of; "I love wolves, they taste like chicken&quot . The replies were likely along the lines of: "Stick to reporting hunting and fishing news" to which he replies 'these rules ARE hunting and fishing news'. He also points out that when he criticized Doyle for DNR moves nobody rocked his socks then. He also made clear he voted for Scotty, so there

It has toned down its reporting. 2 articles discussing the changes, one from their conservation minded reporter and one all about the NRB members and how upset they are to be made just an advisory board. Again not one LTTE, although about 10 on other topics

On Lake Link, where they absolutely hate, hate, hate the DNR, there was at first silence. They do not much allow political talk as a general rule. then late Friday one poster started a thread "Walker taking over the DNR" I think it was a purposely provacative post, a little over the top and full of misspellings ( a freeper warning sign to me. I aint the most liberal person in the world, but every single person who is more liberal than I has better spelling and grammer, they are as rule smarter and better spoken as well). So this drew out a minor firestorm of Anti-walker rhetoric, then 3 replies all along the same lines and all 3 with the same talking points, the original poster then chimed in, OK these guys are right, "lets wait and see&give Walker a chance and he aint no Obama" and the post vanished down the rabbit hole. I think this was a provactive post to draw out& tag the walker supporters. I sense them catching grief elsewhere now on the board.

For some reason, the DNR haters have a serious issues with the science positions and research within the DNR. One thing I can never understand is the anti science and anti-education positions these people take. They also seem to give to craps about pollution issues as well, which makes zero sense to me as an outdoorsman

They all hate the DNR due to the lack of deer to shoot, when there a ton of issues that cause this other than wolves and the DNR
