Opioid bills pass Wisconsin Assembly after tense partisan debate

A fundraising pitch sent on Tuesday by Wisconsin Assembly Democrats drew objections from Republican leaders, who accused their colleagues of politicizing bills designed to fight opiate abuse.

The Assembly Democratic Campaign Committee sent a fundraising email Tuesday afternoon referencing a debate on the floor over a Democratic proposal to accept the federal Medicaid expansion.

That proposal was one of three amendments Democrats introduced to go along with a bill that would expand treatment and diversion programs throughout the state. The bill passed unanimously while the three amendments failed.

"Right now, Assembly Democrats are fighting for us in Madison," the email read. "They're in the Assembly Chambers asking their Republican colleagues to do what is right and bring Wisconsin tax dollars back to our state to fund healthcare for families and children who desperately need it."

Yeah, you heard me, stop treating us all like children who can't stay away from tooth rotting candy. Take the fucking anxiety out of getting a steady supply, undercut the black market criminals and run them out of business, and close the pipeline to kids by regulating the sale like we now do tobacco and alcohol.

Most people want their brains to work right. Ending the anxiety means they can get off the pills at their own rate without anybody breathing down the backs of their necks and micromanaging their lives and threatening them with arrests and prison and ruined lives every day they live.

Ending the stupid war means taking all the money out of paramilitary DEA operations offshore and putting it into inpatient rehab that would help people who need it for however long they need it.

Ending the stupid war means fewer amateur chemists will come up with outrageously toxic bathtub shit like Krokodil or Bath Salts. There would no longer be any profit in it. Ending the war would insure you'd be getting what you paid for, not Drano or cement dust mixed with too much elephant tranquilizer.

Enough. Just end it. Please. Realize you should have left bullying behind in middle school and there's nothing you can do to modify voluntary adult behavior but drive it underground, where it can turn dangerous.

Unfortunately, it's not going to happen. Thanks to Nixon and Anslinger and a bunch of other opportunistic right wing shitheads, this country is firmly wedded to doing exactly the wrong thing and the "problem" they largely created will get worse and worse.

Idiots.
