Wetlands Destruction Bill Public Hearing Thu, Dec 21, 2017 11:00 AM 411 South, Wisc State Capitol

There is a public hearing on the Wetlands Destruction Bill, which proposes to eliminate all state protections for non-federal wetlands. In short, this means all wetlands that are not protected by the federal government will no longer have any protections and developers can fill these wetlands without a permit or any environmental review. Non-federal wetlands account for an estimated 20% of Wisconsin’s wetlands, approximately one million acres--the bill would mean opening up a HUGE number of wetlands for development without proper oversight.

The bill is moving fast. Please attend if you can and either speak (explain why you care about wetlands in 3 minutes) or just register opposed to the bill.

He was behind the Iron Ore mining legislation, the Shoreland Zoning changes and the most recent Sulfide Mining law.

He seems to have a penchant for supporting mining companies.
