gop 30 hr work requirement for food stamps means recipient is now a full time employee in the eyes

of the irs and obama care

small employers do not want that
so the incentive to increase work requirements makes the applicant unemployable because the employee just got more expensive.

i have kids who grew up with part time jobs...the one thing that was forbidden was 30 hrs

the employer liked the 20 hr week cause the person could fill in and extra hour here or there and not bump 30

so in very jim crow fashion
the gop has found a way to cut food stamp roles by making an unrealistic work requirement and they can blame the victim by saying the person getting stamps failed to work....

nice

Companies will want to make their own hiring decisions for someone who is basically full time. Has one moment of thought or planning been put into this - hell no. How will a parent afford childcare for multiple children when these jobs are non-paying? Is the government going to pay for their child care? What about if the person has a disabled child and the care requirements are extensive, will they hire a nurse so the parent can work? What if the person is disabled and can't walk or stand or sit or talk for long periods? No, they didn't think about or care about the real lives of these recipients, they just have their motto - kill the poor, steal their $ and give it to the rich. Same goes for working class as well.

13. There are some exceptions to the work requirement

I am on food stamps myself, and got a letter about the work requirement rules last month. There are some exceptions.

Do I qualify for an exemption?
You are exempt from the work requirements if you are:
1. under age 16 or 60 years of age or older;
2. a person subject to and complying with any work requirement under title IV of the Social Security Act;
3. a parent or other household member responsible for the care of a dependent child under 6;
4. a person providing care to an incapacitated person;
5. applying for or are receiving unemployment compensation benefits;
6. participating in a drug or alcohol treatment and rehabilitation program;
7. employed or self-employed working a minimum of 30 hours weekly or earning a weekly wage at least equal to the Federal minimum wage multiplied by 30 hours;
8. a student enrolled at least half-time in a recognized school of higher education or training program and you meet special student eligibility requirements.

Can I still qualify for an exemption even if I don't meet the exemptions listed above?
You may still qualify for an exemption if you are:
1. under age 18 or 50 years of age or older;
2. physically or mentally unfit for work; or pregnant;
3. a parent (natural, adoptive, or step) of a household member under age 18, even if the household member who
is under 18 is not eligible for SNAP; or
4. living in a SNAP household with a child under age 18, even if the household member who is under 18 is not
eligible for SNAP.

They sound reasonable and you know he can't stand having the poor being treated fairly.

You have to work 30 hours per week and you still can’t afford to feed yourself?

They are plainly acknowledging that minimum wage is too low to feed a person.

The average recipient gets $134 in food stamps per month.
Divide that by 120 work hours per month.
