Questions raised about payment made by lawyer to Randy Bryce's ex-girlfriend

Something seems fishy with this issue.

Questions raised about payment made by lawyer to Randy Bryce's ex-girlfriend

Mary Spicuzza, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Published 11:57 a.m. CT July 16, 2018 | Updated 4:28 p.m. CT July 16, 2018

Congressional candidate Randy Bryce owed money to his ex-girlfriend for more than a decade.

That debt — which totaled about $4,200 by late last year — has since been paid.

What's unclear is exactly who paid it.

Bryce's ex-girlfriend, Rhonda Slechta, told the Journal Sentinel last November that she was surprised when she received the check for $4,245.73.

But it turns out the check wasn't from Bryce — it came from the Milwaukee-based law firm Halling & Cayo. It was delivered by Jeremy Levinson, an attorney with the firm who has represented the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.

Mike Maistelman, a Milwaukee lawyer who has represented Democrats and Republicans on campaign finance issues, compared the situation to the $130,000 payment Stormy Daniels received from President Donald Trump's longtime attorney.

"It strikes me as a little odd to hire a lawyer to have to pay off a debt, as opposed to just writing a check and sending it to his ex-girlfriend," Maistelman said. "This does sound very similar to the Stormy Daniels thing."..............................

Randy Bryce was the best candidate, until the character assasinations began by his opponent. This is a red district, although blue collar and union represented. It's my opinion, for what it's worth, no woman is going to win this district, no matter who the GOP puts up. Bryce was our best shot!

Randy Bryce has the charism and style that fits that area. The voters like his bigger than life persona. He’s the guy everyone wants to have a beer with. Do not underestimate how important the beer buddy thing is there.
Meyers might like to press forward with something she has accomplished rather than trying to characterize her opponent. Who is by the way a Democrat.

This is beyond disgusting. I hope it is not a Democrat doing this.

That's different from this situation. The article quotes from the lawyer who is using a false equivalency argument.

Still, something for the campaign to address directly, soon, and effectively.
